Set up a Free FTP

Hello and welcome to this wonderful guide to setting an FTP sever to your computer to share files with your buddies. First things first you need to download Meteor FTP program which can be found Here.

Now that you have downloaded the program you unzip it, if you don't have winzip, the click Here. Once you install winzip just double click the meteor.zip file and extract the to a folder of you choice. Then click in the set up icon and follow instructions. Oh when you get a screen that looks like the one below just click next we'll take care of that later.

Now that you have your program installed you may, or may not have shortcut on the desktop. Just look in the progams folder in the C drive, and in the MeteorSoft folder you will find the Meteor FTP launch program which looks like this:

Just creat your shortcut to the desktop.

Now that you done this double click on the icon and you will see this screen here:

Just click the ok, and go to Server and click config, as seen in pic bellow:

Then you will see this screen here:

Under the paths tab set up your file locations that you want to use, as you can see I set up a folder called movies. You can of course set you own folder name and location as you see fit.

Now go to the general tab, don't even bother with the anonymous ftp tab. Now under the General tab set it to as you see in the pic below:

Then under the advance tab should look like this pic below:
Now to set up an user account. Again under server this time click on the Accounts menu, as seen bellow:

And this screen will pop up:

Click on the add user button, and this will pop up:

Just type in a user name and password, and presto your ftp server is set up. You may want to creat more users or not. Not to set up you FTP Explorer click Here.
